Vermont State University – Randolph Campus
The Vermont State College System’s Teaching & Learning with Technology Committee is excited to host the A+ Retreat at the VSCS: Accessibility, AI, & Approaches to Technology at Vermont State University’s Randolph Campus. This is an opportunity to bring together individuals from across Vermont State University and the Community College of Vermont for a productive day of community-building, learning, and sharing.
This gathering will support faculty and staff in navigating the new WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines that go into effect in April 2026. The sessions will also discuss practices for AI usage and other technologies for instruction in higher education. The retreat will feature a keynote speaker in the morning followed by breakout sessions in the afternoon. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
This year’s keynote speaker is Kyle Shachmut, Senior Director of Digital Accessibility, Harvard University. Kyle Shachmut leads digital accessibility strategy across Harvard’s schools, where he founded and directs the University’s Digital Accessibility Services team. His work bridges information technology, disability inclusion, and academic innovation. Kyle has played a pivotal role in shaping Harvard’s Digital Accessibility Policy and previously advanced universal design in online learning through HarvardX.
