Curriculum and Programs

CCV faculty instructing a student in class.

CCV Curriculum is overseen by Academic Council (AC) and associated curriculum committees. There are five curricular committees responsible for programmatic and disciplinary oversight.

Academic Committees

Each committee is led by faculty and staff co-chairs who are also members of AC and each committee is affiliated with an Associate Academic Dean (AAD) who provides resources and works on behalf of curriculum committees with partner institutions and organizations.

Committee members, comprised primarily of faculty and Coordinators of Teaching and Learning (CTLs), establish and review degree program design and coherence, curriculum content, and assess program outcome measures in collaboration with advisory committees, additional faculty and staff, community partners, and statewide organizations. Curricular committees maintain consistency across courses through a system of common essential learning objectives that are created, reviewed, and updated regularly through a well-defined curriculum change process.

Academic Council

Academic Council (AC) is responsible for the academic programs provided at CCV. The council includes a variety of faculty and staff, including curriculum co-chairs from our various degree and certificate programs. A student representative also serves on the council. AC members meet monthly, approximately 8 times a year.

Curriculum Committee Membership

Each of the College’s curriculum committees are co-chaired by a faculty and a staff member. Co-chairs hold terms of two years and are paid a stipend for their leadership of the committee. An associate academic dean provides additional support for co-chairs and committees. The dean of students provides support for the committee that oversees developmental coursework and CCV’s signature first-semester experience.

Curriculum committees are responsible for managing the College’s curriculum, including new course and program development as well as changes to existing courses and programs. Curriculum members are appointed for two-year terms. All faculty who serve in this capacity receive stipends for their work.
